Three people were injured in a knife attack at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on Wednesday. The perpetrator stabbed a woman, a man and a police officer before a security check. The latter is said to be 71 years old and has only recently been put back into use.
Woman also attacked taxi driver
Passengers waiting in the South Terminal were asked to protect themselves on the ground (see video above). The attacker had previously attacked the driver of a taxi to the airport. After another attack, the woman was eventually arrested. “By the time we arrived, the stabbing had already occurred,” said Atlanta Police Sergeant John Chafee. There would no longer be any danger to the public.
Identity of attacker and victim secret
The identities and circumstances of the victims have not been released. However, police said they were all conscious and breathing when taken to hospital. The identity of the suspects is also confidential. The woman was not injured, according to WSB-TV.
Security forces were eventually able to overpower and disarm the woman. The motive for the crime is unclear. Local authorities have launched an investigation.
