Looking back on the 1973 World Cup: “It was merciless full throttle driving and very little braking”

Date:

The return of the World Rally Championship to Austria promises a true spectacle. Especially since at the end of October 500 hp “hybrid monsters” will even race over a concrete jump. When the best rally drivers in the world were last in Austria 50 years ago, it was no less eventful.

“I actually thought it was nonsense and impossible,” says record national rally champion Raimund Baumschlager, recalling the moment he heard last year that a round of the World Rally Championship would take place in Austria. In two weeks the time will really come, from October 26 to 29, the “Central European Rally” will take place with special stages in the Czech Republic, Bavaria and the Inn and Mühlviertel.
