This is certainly one of the nicest and most honest gestures that firefighters in Linz have ever received! A neighbor boy came to the helpers who had just put out a fire, saved animals – including an exotic animal – and prevented a major disaster, and shared his chocolate bar with them! By the way, a child also started the fire.
The men of the professional fire brigade had come to Julius-Raab-Straße because of a room fire. There was a fire in an apartment on the second floor. A father was just able to escape to safety with his three-year-old son, but was treated by paramedics from the Samaritan Association for suspected smoke poisoning and taken to hospital as a precaution. Because the father had fallen while fleeing the apartment with his child in his arm, bruises also had to be treated. Firefighters also removed a tarantula and a cat from the smoke-filled apartment, where a child’s mattress was on fire. The cause of the fire also seems clear: the boy grabbed a lighter and was playing with it.
On the sidelines of the routine mission for the professional helpers, a scene occurred that can only be described as “How sweet!”: A neighbor boy came with his chocolate bar and thanked the helpers and shared with them. Parents know: chocolate bars are usually ‘sacred’. So that was more than just a nice gesture. That was a real thank you. The helpers gratefully received it and were happy that everything had gone well.
