A 16-year-old girl from Spital am Pyhrn collided with a car at an intersection in Edlbach (Upper Austria) on Wednesday evening while driving her moped. The teenager was thrown against the windshield and was so badly injured that she died at the accident site.
The 16-year-old from the Kirchdorf district was driving her moped on Hengst Landesstraße from Windischgarsten towards Spital am Pyhrn on Wednesday around 7.25 pm. In the municipality of Edlbach she wanted to turn left at the intersection with the B138 towards Spital am Pyhrn. At the same time, a 28-year-old from the Kirchdorf district drove his car on the B138 from Spital am Pyhrn in the direction of Kirchdorf an der Krems.
Right Angle Collision
When the moped driver turned around, there was a right angle collision between the two vehicles, with the 16-year-old crashing into the front of the car, then being thrown into the windshield and eventually coming to a stop on the road. Despite lengthy CPR attempts, the teen succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the accident.
