Edtstadler coup – DNA traces: arrest warrant for ministerial burglar

Accurate crime scene work and investigative work by the burglary specialists of the Vienna State Criminal Police made the breakthrough less than two months after Edtstadler’s coup in Vienna’s chic Döbling district.

As reported in detail, the ÖVP top politician’s summer shock came via mobile phone while on holiday in Nice. The Minister of EU and Constitutional Protection had to watch live via web surveillance cameras as two perpetrators broke into her city apartment – the 42-year-old from Salzburg’s private retreat during long-term government work.

15 promising DNA traces
At least about fifteen promising DNA traces have been found in items left behind by the two masked perpetrators. A genetic fingerprint provided a hit in the stored criminal database.

The hot trail leads to a Serbian serial criminal. The professional perpetrator has several previous convictions for property crimes. He is now being hunted by the Viennese public prosecutor’s office with an international arrest warrant. The detectives also have every confidence in the search for his accomplice.

The tip for the coup probably came (unconsciously or deliberately) from hacker circles. A few weeks before the coup, Minister Edtstadler had employed construction workers in her apartment…
