The “Krone” report about a teacher from Liesing, who was fired by the education department before Christmas as an alleged opponent of the measures and has lived on savings since then, caused a stir.
Because Judit H. appealed against the dismissal and the suspension of payments, the 63-year-old has been excluded from all supplies and is not entitled to assistance. At least until the administrative judge decides.
“I’m mentally ill”
The Viennese, who has been teaching at secondary schools in Liesing since 1994, says that he has a mask phobia and is mentally ill, and says of himself: “So far my savings have run out, but from next month or the month after that I have to go begging. “
Former students have signed up
After the message in the “Krone”, Judit H. received an encouragement: “Former students have contacted me. They hope I can get through it well and that a solution will be found.” There was no official response and the situation is clouded.
The readership of “Krone” was divided. Some are sure that Mrs. H. is not telling the whole truth and see her dismissal as a result of not wearing a mask as justified: “In my work I have to take off the mask every day as soon as I enter a ward and also every day giving a gargle test because I’m not vaccinated so I don’t understand the whining,” says one user. “My compassion is limited. There are rules, that’s the way it is,” wrote another.
The only way out is early retirement?
Others show solidarity with the single mother of an adult daughter who used to be a successful backstroke swimmer. They do not understand how it is possible that the native Hungarian, who had to flee to Austria in 1984, is currently not getting any money, while she has been pouring into the system for decades: “I don’t care at all whether she is right or not. After 28 years as a teacher in Austria and at the age of 63 she should get a pension.”
City council refers to education management
Early retirement seems like the most logical way out in this case: “That wasn’t up for discussion,” says the education department, which announced the termination because the teacher did not show up for work for three days without an excuse after she was killed in December by the official of public health was examined as fit for work, was classified. Vienna Councilor for Education Christoph Wiederkehr (NEOS) was unwilling to comment and referred to the Vienna Education Directorate.
