Missiles in Tel Aviv – The Israeli army wants to expand air strikes

Date:

The Israeli army wants to expand its airstrikes on the Gaza Strip. An army spokesman announced this on Saturday evening. The continued airstrikes on Palestinian territory are Israel’s response to the major attack by the militant Hamas on October 7.

The terrorist organization controls the Gaza Strip. In concrete terms, the Israeli army now wants to step up attacks on Hamas targets in the northern part of the Gaza Strip. “We will continue to engage targets that could pose a threat to ground forces in the next phases of the war,” an army spokesman said. The attacks targeted Hamas military targets and government facilities.

The army had previously announced that it would continue preparations for the “next phase of the war” in the Gaza Strip. This includes ground operations. Units are on site and training, the report said.

Shelling on the border with Lebanon
The Israeli army said on Saturday it had responded to renewed shelling on the border with Lebanon. Militant forces fired anti-tank missiles, among other things. They responded with counterattacks and identified hits. The death of a soldier at the border with Lebanon was previously confirmed.

Late Saturday afternoon there was another bomb threat in Tel Aviv and central Israel: Palestinian militants fired rockets again. Two explosions were heard. Warning sirens also sounded in the port city of Ashdod on Saturday. The Israeli army, for its part, continued its bombardment of Hamas in the Gaza Strip on Saturday night. Air raids in the north again caused deaths and injuries.

700,000 Palestinians fled
About 700,000 Palestinians have now fled to the south of the coastal strip. The Israeli army says it is calling on remaining civilians to move to the area south of Wadi Gaza for their own protection. There are still more than 200 hostages in the Gaza Strip.
