Serious injuries – Tyrolean (52) falls 400 meters down a slope with his car

Terrible accident on Monday morning in Wattens in the Tyrolean district of Innsbruck-Land: a 52-year-old resident fell with his vehicle about 400 meters down a slope. The man survived with serious injuries. He was flown to the clinic in Innsbruck.

The terrible accident took place around 9 a.m. in the Vogelsberg district of Watten. As police describe in response to ‘Krone’ investigations, according to the current state of the investigation, the 52-year-old local man may have driven his all-terrain vehicle along the side of the road and as a result fell ‘300 to 400 meters over the slope.

Seriously injured person rescued with rope
The Tyrolean suffered serious injuries. Due to the situation on site, the man was first rescued with the helicopter rope and then provided first aid on site. “Due to the painkillers administered and the severity of the injuries, the 52-year-old became unresponsive,” the official said.

By helicopter to the clinic
After initial treatment, the seriously injured man was flown to the clinic in Innsbruck by emergency helicopter. The all-terrain vehicle was completely destroyed in the crash.

Further investigation is ongoing into the exact cause of the accident. In addition to the police, the rescue brigade, the fire brigade and the helicopter team, the Wattens mountain rescue service was also present.
