In Eichberg near Hartmannsdorf (municipality of Ilz in Styria) there was a section alarm on Monday evening: a farm building was completely on fire. An elderly couple who were already sleeping were rescued from the flames just in time.
A neighbor noticed the devastating fire in the evening hours and immediately raised the alarm. A farm outbuilding was on fire. The flames threatened to spread to the home where an elderly couple lived.
Danger from welding gas cylinder
First responders arrived when the building was already fully engulfed in flames. That is why a section alarm was activated. The operation was complicated by a welding gas cylinder stored there. A refrigerated trailer and stacks of wooden planks also increased the risk. The sleeping couple was evacuated from the home as quickly as possible.
A few hours later a fire broke out, but the building could not be saved. 126 comrades, the police, the Red Cross and an emergency doctor were present.
