A witness came across two preserved snakes in a bush in Völs near Innsbruck. The protected animals had apparently previously been deliberately killed. The animal protection association for Tyrol has filed a complaint, but the case remains a mystery for now.
Anyone who thinks they have already experienced and seen everything at the Animal Welfare Association for Tyrol is often wrong. A witness has now informed us about a strange discovery near an allotment settlement in Völs. The woman was looking for her cat and came across two jars of honey behind a waste collection point that had probably been dumped there some time ago.
Liquid apparently liquor
In each of the two glasses was a grass snake, marinated in a liquid (probably schnapps). “The younger snake’s head was cut off. This was apparently tried in vain with the older animal, which is about one meter long,” says Christina Skupien, wildlife keeper at the Tirol Animal Welfare Association.
“These animals are useful”
“Grass snakes are useful animals, unfortunately many people see them differently,” Skupien regrets. The native snake species is protected and that is why a report has been filed. The site is located at Thurnfelsstrasse 16. But that does not mean that the residents there are responsible for the strange case.
