Bomb threats have again been received at several schools in Germany. Authorities reported similar incidents in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and Saxony-Anhalt on Thursday. So an evacuation was in any case not necessary.
In Mannheim, several schools received “anonymous emails with threatening content” early in the morning, police said. A specific danger to the students could be ruled out.
Building searched by police
Even after a bomb threat at a vocational school in Straubing, Bavaria, before classes started, there was no need to evacuate the building because there were no students in the building yet, a police spokeswoman said. After the search, the officers gave permission around noon.
In view of the holidays, two schools in the Salzland district of Saxony-Anhalt did not require evacuations. Police said the emails, written in three languages, appeared to be related to the Gaza war. The police currently assume a connection with automated circulars.
References to the Gaza War
Since Friday, bomb threats have been reported throughout Germany, with particular attention to schools. The authors are unknown and the background is unclear. In some cases the letters referred to the Islamist Hamas and the Gaza war, but the conflict in Ukraine was also a topic.
