For ceasefire – Zelenskyj: Moscow must give back land

Date:

Moscow must return the occupied territories if there is a ceasefire, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said. Moreover, freezing the conflict would only give Russian troops a break and prolong the war even more. Air defense systems to prevent rocket attacks on the civilian population are more urgent than a ceasefire.

That reports the “Wall Street Journal”, which referred to statements by Selenskyj. According to him, diplomatic concessions to Moscow could stabilize the markets somewhat, but are only a “breathing”. Ukraine urgently needs more weapons than a ceasefire, especially air defense systems. Weapons that have already been delivered, such as the US HIMARS rocket launcher, are important, but still insufficient.

Ukrainian troops attack Donetsk. at
Ukrainian troops attacked the Moscow-controlled city of Donetsk early Friday morning. According to the mayor of Lysychansk (neighboring area, be aware), there are problems with food supply for the civilian population there after Ukrainian forces destroyed bridges during the retreat.

Use of kamikaze drones confirmed
On the same day, Kiev confirmed the use of combat drones at the Enerhodar nuclear power plant, which is already occupied by the enemy. “An attack on a tent city and enemy technology was carried out with kamikaze drones,” military intelligence said. Three Russian soldiers are said to have been killed and twelve other people injured. Air defenses and a Grad (Hail) multiple rocket launcher were destroyed.

A video shows tents and people fleeing an explosion. The Russian occupation administration for the Zaporizhzhya region had previously reported the attack about 440 kilometers southeast of Kiev. According to this information, eleven workers at the power plant were injured, four of them seriously. The information provided by both parties cannot be independently verified.

With six blocks and a capacity of 600 megawatts, Enerhodar is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. More than half of the electrical energy in Ukraine is generated from nuclear energy. In early March, Russian troops captured the factory.

Meanwhile, governments are investigating more arms shipments, such as fighter jets and Phoenix Ghost drones. The United States has been particularly generous as it has pledged arms, ammunition and equipment to Ukraine (since President Joe Biden took office, note) for a total amount of $8.2 billion (EUR 8.04 billion).
