Another fatal motorcycle accident! On Friday afternoon, a motorcyclist fell on the border road in southern Styria and slid into an oncoming vehicle. All help came too late for the 37-year-old.
Around 4:43 p.m., the man from the Leibnitz district rode his motorcycle on the B69 from the direction of Mureck towards Straß. A 66-year-old from southeastern Styria was driving his car from the oncoming direction when the accident happened: in the area of Lichendorf the motorcyclist fell, turned into the oncoming lane and crashed into the car.
No helmet and no protective clothing
The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet or other protective clothing. An arriving police patrol began resuscitation of the victim, but the man died at the scene of the accident from his serious injuries. An alcohol test on the driver was negative.
In addition to the police patrols from Straß, Leibnitz, Mureck and Gamlitz, the Red Cross Bad Radkersburg and Leibnitz, the Leibnitz emergency doctor and the volunteer fire brigades Lichendorf and Weitersfeld were deployed to the accident scene with a total of 18 personnel.
