Are discounts or reduction promises before the referendum on a new wind farm in accordance with the democratic principle? The FPÖ NÖ has now asked the public prosecutor whether this procedure falls under criminal law. The reason was a case in Sulz in the Weinviertel. However, an energy community of citizens shows other paths.
The FPÖ claims that an advertising campaign in Sulz promising cheaper electricity influenced a referendum on the new wind farm. “You cannot buy untouched nature,” says energy spokesman Dieter Dorner, explaining his current presentation of the facts to the Public Prosecution Service. For the member of the state parliament, this is an unacceptable approach that should not even become a common practice.
