A home game of a special kind: “Goleador” Hans Krankl talks to the “Krone” before his performance at the Linzer Posthof about whether Salzburg or Sturm will win the championship title, how he actually got into music, how much he appreciates Willi Resetarits misses and how will he be back in Upper Austria after his arrest?
“Kron”: Mr. Krankl, you are back in Linz for the first time since August 15, 2022, this time with the band Monti Beton. At the time, there were headlines across Europe following your arrest during the Bundesliga match LASK against Rapid. The proceedings for resistance to state power have now been discontinued. Have you made peace with Linz?
Hans Krankl: I was always at peace with Linz. The meanness happened in Pasching, not Linz. That’s a difference. I don’t even want to talk about it anymore. During my time as a trainer in Linz I met many people who really care about LASK. Apart from Rapid, no club in Austria has so much support. And I have a good relationship with LASK boss Siegmund Gruber.
