Serious allegations – Reporter: Colleague was deliberately killed by Israel

Date:

A few days after Hamas’s terrorist attacks, six journalists were injured in two rocket attacks on the Lebanese-Israeli border. The explosions killed a Reuters photographer. Reporters Without Borders (RSF) now makes serious accusations: Israel deliberately attacked the journalists.

According to RSF’s analysis, two bullets came from “the direction of the Israeli border” on October 13, the journalist organization announced on Sunday. Issam Abdallah was there along with six other media representatives.

Two collisions within a few seconds
Within about 30 seconds there were two impacts in the same location and from the same direction. This clearly indicates a concrete goal acquisition. Abdallah was killed in the first clash, and other journalists, including those from Al-Jazeera channel and AFP agency, were injured in the second.

RSF published its analysis on YouTube:

The Israeli military has said it is not deliberately targeting journalists and is investigating the October 13 incident. Reuters has contacted the Israeli military for comment on the RSF statement. The news agency itself reported on October 14 that Abdallah had been killed in a rocket attack.

RSF: Reporters were clearly visible
Reporters Without Borders asked on Sunday whether it was possible that they did not know the group were journalists – saying: “We are confident that it is impossible to associate them with fighters.”

The journalists did not hide and stood outside on a hill for over an hour and were clearly visible and recognizable as press representatives. The organization has included a link in its press release to a video showing, among other things, the group before the shelling and the two impacts.

The journalists were on this hill:

The images show that the reporters wore vests with the text ‘Press’. An Israeli Apache helicopter flew over the scene seconds before the tragedy, said Edmond Sassine, a journalist with the Lebanese television channel LBCI, who was about 100 meters away from his colleagues from Reuters, Al Jazeera and AFP and filmed the impact .
