What a feeling of happiness to look into these faithful eyes. Stroking the cozy fur. Memories of your own pet are awakened. When Honey and Coffee visit the palliative care unit, love triumphs over death.
“My terminally ill father was a dog owner himself and I decided then: if I ever had a four-legged friend, I would train him to be a therapy dog,” says Roland Rucker. He sits on the other end of the leash from Coffee, a French water dog, and volunteers in St. Louise’s palliative care unit at the Linz Sisters of Mercy Hospital. As a close-knit team, they visit patients who would like to do so every other week and they bring a lot of fun with them.
