Serious traffic accident Thursday evening at the Tyrolean Fernpass: Two cars collided directly at the top of the pass. A total of three people were injured. The emergency helicopter had to land on the road – the B179 was temporarily closed.
The devastating accident happened just before 7:30 p.m. A 56-year-old Dane was driving his car on Fernpassstraße from the Ausserfern towards Nassereith when a German (67) turned onto the B179 from a car park at the top right of the pass.
Both drivers and woman injured in hospital
“The 67-year-old may have overlooked the approaching Dane’s car,” the police said. There was a violent collision between the two vehicles. Both drivers and the German’s wife, who was in the passenger seat, suffered serious injuries.
After receiving first aid at the scene of the accident, the three injured were taken by ambulance or the emergency medical helicopter “RK2” to the district hospital of Reutte. The B179 had to be closed in the meantime.
