For the third time, the Israeli flag was taken down in front of the old town hall in Linz. This time two local students were arrested and they also confessed. Their motive: ‘I don’t want to see the flag hanging here.’
The incident happened around 6 a.m. on Sunday. Two apparently tipsy students met the city hall doorman in Linz’s main square as he was about to raise the Israeli flag, which is always lowered at night as a precaution, from the flagpole.
City hall employees insulted
The two insulted the city hall employee and told him that they did not want to see this flag hanging. But the doorman was not deterred and hoisted the blue and white flag.
Flag dragged to the ground
After the employee returned to the town hall, the two revelers allegedly hung on the flag, pulled it and dragged it to the ground. This action was observed by a passing patrol. The police managed to stop and arrest the students.
Impeccable so far
The 20-year-olds from Linz – they are Austrian citizens – admitted to the incident and also told officials that they did not want to see the Israeli flag hanging in front of the town hall. She is now under investigation for denigrating foreign symbols (Article 317, StGB). “The two men were previously unknown to the police,” says police commander Karl Pogutter from Linz, who is pleased with the successful intervention of his colleagues. “A result of the currently increased patrol activity.”
The Israeli flag was raised again shortly after the incident. Of the seven perpetrators of three desecrations, the police were able to quickly identify six suspects. We are still looking for a young person who dragged the flag with his feet on the ground on October 22.

Only anti-Semites desecrate Stars of David
It is not “just a piece of cloth,” as “conciliators” like to downplay when it comes to downplaying the desecration of Israeli flags. It was merely ‘a piece of cloth’ if it did not have a Star of David on it and the blue and white national colors of the State of Israel printed on it.
The Star of David, which Jews had to wear on their clothing during the Third Reich, was automatically declared an outlaw. Therefore, anyone today who tears up, burns or drags the Stars of David through the mud is nothing but an anti-Semite!
