The volunteer fire brigade in Oberndorf in Salzburg caused a stir with an animal rescue operation: the emergency services freed a cat that was stuck in a mortar pumping station.
The Oberndorf fire brigade carried out an unusual operation last weekend.
A cat was spotted in the large pumping station of the water protection that had been missing for eight days. It was initially unclear whether the furry friend had been caught in one of the two steel snails, which is why the emergency services left on Friday without achieving anything.
The owners, who were very concerned, were finally able to locate their pet. After the fire brigade was alerted again, two comrades climbed into the inside of the large conveyor screw together with an employee of the cleanliness association on Saturday afternoon. The trio managed to catch the cat, remove it unharmed from the steel structure and hand it over to the relieved owners.
