Opportunity makes thieves, says an old saying that applies to this current criminal case: A 19-year-old attended training at an education center in Pongau. He took the opportunity and took home five computers.
The course lasted just four days, between October 16 and 20, with nine participants. Three laptops and two stand-alone PCs were then gone. “Due to the limited number of participants,” the officers were able to quickly locate the suspected thief, according to the police report. But the investigation probably caused panic for the 19-year-old: he poured nitro thinner on the PC computers and left them in front of the education center days later, this Monday.
Disassembled into individual parts
During a search, officers discovered an undamaged laptop and parts of two others in the Pongauer’s ‘children’s room’. The stolen goods were therefore no longer functional. The 19-year-old explained to the officers that he wanted to use the computers to build a server that would allow him to participate in a video game and make money. Now it is displayed.
