Russian authorities are said to have auctioned off an apartment belonging to the family of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Crimea. As the media reported, the property fetched 44.3 million rubles (equivalent to 440,000 euros). There would have been only two bidders.
The starting price was approximately 200,000 euros. The apartment is approximately 120 square meters in size and is located in the luxurious seaside resort of Yalta. Officially, the property belonged to Olena Zelenska, wife of Volodymyr Zelensky. However, this year the apartment was nationalized by Russian authorities. The Crimean parliament changed the law and voted unanimously in favor of expropriation.

According to the Russian news agency Tass, it is a three-room apartment with a view of the Black Sea and the Livadia Palace, the summer residence of the last Russian Tsar Nicholas II. Zelenska bought the property in Crimea in 2013 – about a year ago. , before the Russian government annexed the Black Sea Peninsula, in violation of international law. At the time, the current Ukrainian president still earned his money as an actor and comedian.
The revenue could lead to war
The apartment went to Olga Lipowetskaya from Moscow, who was unimpressed by the history and the previous owner. She only chose it because of the good location and climate.
Part of the 44.3 million rubles raised could go directly to the war against Ukraine. Selenskyj had announced several times in the past that he wanted to liberate Crimea again.
