A few days ago, a 14-year-old allegedly murdered a child in a psychiatric hospital in Regensburg (see video above). A nurse and a teacher were also injured in the knife attack. The Public Prosecution Service announced on Monday evening that the young person was probably an accidental victim.
According to initial findings, the 14-year-old patient allegedly attacked a seven-year-old fellow patient and a 63-year-old teacher on Thursday. A 27-year-old nurse stopped the attacker and was also injured. As reported, the boy died a day after the incident. The employee has now been able to leave the hospital again.
According to the researchers, one of the central questions now is how the suspect obtained a knife. It also needs to be clarified whether he had supporters or at least people who were aware before the crime. Law enforcement authorities currently do not rule out an extremist background. That is why the Central Office for the Combating of Extremism and Terrorism is conducting an investigation.
Monitoring using an ankle bracelet
The suspect was known to the police because he had used relevant chat groups on courier services and, as a criminal minor, had intensively planned and carried out the most serious acts of violence. The 14-year-old was likely not fully responsible for the most recent crime. It was said that he was being monitored at the district hospital using an ankle monitor.
After the knife attack, he was readmitted to a psychiatric hospital.
