A13 partially closed – Mure on the Brenner highway: vehicle hit!

Date:

Due to heavy rain, a mudslide occurred on the A13 Brenner highway in Tyrol on Tuesday evening shortly before the border with Italy. A car was hit by the debris. Fortunately, no one was injured. Obstacles continue to arise during the clean-up work.

The mudslide occurred as a result of heavy rain around 2:40 am on the A13 near Gries am Brenner, just before the border. Both lanes were buried.

“A car driving towards Innsbruck was hit by the mudslide,” police said. The prisoners escaped in horror. No one was injured.

A13 partially completely closed
The A13 initially had to be completely closed between the border with Italy and the Brennersee. After initial cleanup, the southbound road was eventually reopened as one lane. “There is still a total closure in the direction of Innsbruck,” Asfinag reported in the morning. Significant disruptions are expected, especially in the Brenner Lakes area.

The work is in full swing
Since the night, Asfinag has been working with excavators, among other things, to remove the almost 80 meter long mud flow and the damage. However, the entire area is yet to be assessed by the state geology department before all lanes can be reopened.
