Viennese criminal lawyer Normann Hofstätter recently exchanged his gown for spikes. The 47-year-old ran a marathon in Greenland in minus 15 degrees. And the next day he went even further.
In the courtroom, criminal lawyer Normann Hofstätter is known for his enthusiasm. He fights energetically for the rights of the suspect. The father of two also approaches his sports projects with the same commitment – which he has now proven once again. Within two days, the lawyer completed a marathon and a half marathon – in Kangerlussuaq, Greenland, mind you, in minus 15 degrees!
“I’ve never seen anything cooler. We walked the entire route on peaks on ice or in snow.” – the lawyer covered the total 63 km with 1,600 meters of elevation gain in an impressive seven and a half hours: “It was not the time for me, but about work ” he says, adding, “This experience was unbelievably wonderful!”
From the desert to the icy glacier challenge
The “Bear Challenge” of the “Ice Cup” includes all starters who run marathons and half marathons. Hofstätter took 27th place out of 73 participants. How did he come up with the idea? “Last year I ran a desert marathon, and now Greenland was the opposite of that.”
Back in Vienna, exciting things await the 47-year-old. After participating in the coldest marathon in the world, Hofstätter now has a cool head for the heated daily process.
