After the far too long journey to the hospital, a 30-year-old Italian woman finally gave birth to her first child on a mountain road.
The woman from the mountain village of Badia Pratiglia in the Apennines gave birth during the night, the emergency services announced on Wednesday.
Together with her mother she left for the provincial capital Arezzo – a route of 57 kilometers with many bends.
Gave birth without complications
Around four in the morning, the women called emergency services on their mobile phones. The delivery took place over the telephone without any major complications: the 2.9 kilogram child, the mother – and also the new grandmother – are doing well.
