The fire brigade and water rescue service, including divers, were called to an unusual operation at Lake Achensee. The water police called for help because their boat was in danger of capsizing after a huge influx of water. Then things got quite complicated…
The accident was discovered on Thursday morning; the boat, which was already partially full, was kept from capsizing by the turning lines on the jetty. After investigating the situation, the fire brigade on site decided to call in a crane company and the Schwaz-Achensee water rescue service to safely rescue the boat.
Divers attached lifting balloons
For this purpose, water rescue divers have attached lifting balloons to keep the ship afloat. The submersible pumps installed in the boat were able to pump out the water before the lifting process.
It was only after about four hours that the boat was on land and the operation was over. What will happen next with the damaged small ship is currently unclear. Also the cause of water ingress.
