Currently, 262,000 users of the climate ticket can use all public transport throughout Austria. Now they are going to make a wish from a survey come true: from November 27, the ticket will also be available digitally.
To get this, install the ÖBB, Westbahn or Wiener Linien app on your smartphone and pick up the climate ticket there. Then enter information such as card number and date of birth and the climate ticket will appear in the app and can be shown on every trip instead of the conventional card. More compatible apps from other Austrian transport associations will be added continuously.
Digital ticket accepted by any carrier
It has been ensured that the ticket can be checked on all public transport and that the requirements for the necessary security against misuse are met. And it is accepted by every one of the more than 100 carriers in Austria.
Gewessler wants to use the digital option to inspire even more people to switch to climate-friendly mobility and thus get closer to the climate goals.
“With the digital climate ticket, public transport is even more convenient and comfortable,” Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewessler (Greens) said on Thursday.
