Animals cannot say or write love, but they can show it all the more. The animal corner “crown” gives them a voice, revealing their suffering and gratitude when they are rescued.
The black and white cat sits terrified in the narrow niche in the wall. She tries to climb the walls and wants to become invisible. Her pupils are so dilated you’d think she had black eyes. Again and again you hear a pitiful meow from the room next door, then another rumble and clink because a cat has apparently knocked something over in a panic.
Major rescue operation
With a calm voice I try to influence and calm the scared velvet paw. At the right time, the vet throws a blanket over the cat and places it in the appropriate transport cart. We will capture another 44 kittens in the house to bring them to our cat house “Krone”, which we can run thanks to donations from our animal lovers.
Sad fate
We also take the dog “Linda” (large photo above) with us. The poor animal is well fed, but was apparently kept in the cellar. We are receiving more and more reports from animal collectors. People who keep dozens of dogs or cats. The fact that they take poor care of the animals and the smell of urine and feces is unbearable does not stop these people from this form of animal abuse.
If animals could talk
A few days later I see the black and white “Bonni” (we named all 45 cats) again in our cat house. Sitting on the floor, I wait patiently to see if she seeks my contact. She slowly comes closer, looks deep into my eyes and I actually have the impression that she wants to say “thank you”. When I pick her up she starts purring.
Identify and combat animal welfare abuses
These wonderful moments give my team and me the strength to keep fighting. Against animal suffering and also for legal improvements in animal protection. As was the case with sheep “Chili”, which was rescued from a parked car in Salzburg. Due to epidemic regulations, “Chili”, which is originally from Serbia, must be killed.
