On November 8, a commemoration of the 85th anniversary of the November 1938 pogroms will take place in the Graz synagogue – without the mayor of Graz, Elke Kahr, being uninvited. Does the president of the Jewish community maintain his criticism of the KPÖ? We spoke with Elie Rosen.
“Kron”: Mr. President, you did not invite the KPÖ to the commemoration meeting on the 85th anniversary of the pogroms in November. Has there already been an illuminating conversation with the mayor of Graz?
Elie Rosen: No, due to scheduling reasons I have not been able to conduct the interview yet. It will take place at the end of this month. But since it is always about not extending invitations: I have to say that I am surprised that so many people in the KPÖ ranks expressed their “dismay” about this. Until the day I wrote her the letter, the mayor had not confirmed 100% that she would come. And Councilman Krotzer apologized because of a district event where he had to speak. If the November commemoration was as important as people emphasize, they would have signed up. Or no speaking engagement promised on November 8.
