A serious accident occurred on Saturday in the Swiss municipality of Rüthi (canton of St. Gallen), which borders Austria. Four children between the ages of four and 14 were riding in a vintage farm vehicle when they suddenly lost control. A child was run over and had to be flown to a hospital.

An 11-year-old boy was driving a single-axle agricultural vehicle on Dachslochstrasse around noon on Saturday when he suddenly lost control of the vehicle and went off to the right side of the road. The 11-year-old and his three passengers, ages 14, 11 and 4, who were sitting on the attached cargo area, jumped off. The single-axle vehicle overturned. Shortly afterwards, the vehicle rolled over, causing the 14-year-old to fall. under the single axle vehicle. He was so seriously injured that he had to be flown to a clinic after receiving first aid by the Swiss air rescue service REGA. The single-axle vehicle came to a stop in a meadow about 50 meters below the road. Not licensed to drive, not insured. In addition to the fact that the 11-year-old should not have driven the vehicle, it also turned out when the accident was determined that the single-axle vehicle did not have the necessary insurance. According to the St. Gallen cantonal police, the young person will be reported to the responsible youth lawyer.
