Tragic forest accident in Neumarkt/Stemk.: A farmer (30) from the Murau district was doing woodwork today. He was hit by a falling fir tree and fatally injured.
In the morning hours, the 30-year-old farmer from Murau district went into the forest alone and wearing protective equipment to do woodwork. He cut down a number of spruce trees with a chainsaw and transported them to the collection point with a tractor. When a relative went to look in the woods around 2 p.m., he found the young man motionless under an eight-inch-thick spruce tree.
A family member found the accident victim
The family member tried to free the victim with the chainsaw lying next to him and alerted the emergency services. However, the first aid measures immediately taken could no longer save the young man. The emergency doctor from the rescue helicopter could only determine that the farmer was dead. The man was hit by the tree and probably died on the spot.
Emergency services from the fire brigades of Perchau and Neumarkt rescued the man from the area. No indications of foul play could be identified. Relatives are cared for by the crisis intervention team.
