Last weekend, a sauna heater exploded in the basement of a residential building in Schwarzau am Steinfeld in the Neunkirchen district (Lower Austria). One resident was injured and had to be taken to hospital by helicopter.
The 65-year-old man was cleaning the sauna heater. Police say he may have filled the device with another liquid instead of distilled water. The resident was injured and flown by emergency medical helicopter to Vienna General Hospital.
High material damage
The explosion damaged several doors and windows of the building. According to the fire brigade, the force tore a door from its anchorage.
