An apparently smoldering dispute between two families escalated Friday night in Vienna’s Favoriten district, ending with a police operation. A 38-year-old allegedly threw a beer bottle at a member of the other family on Reumannplatz and threatened it wildly. Alcohol was also involved.
Police officers from the Keplergasse Inspectorate were summoned around 10 p.m. During the investigation, it was found that the 38-year-old suspect from Bulgaria had assaulted a 40-year-old. During the altercation, the victim’s mobile phone was damaged and death threats were allegedly made.
The alleged perpetrator also behaved aggressively when police arrived, the director said on Saturday. The suspect has been provisionally arrested and an entry and approach ban has been issued. The 38-year-old was also drunk and an alcohol test showed a blood alcohol level of 1.8.
