The “King of Prison outbursts” of Italy died on Saturday at the age of 83. The day before, Graziano Mesina was released only the day before from a prison in Milan. The multiple murderer and abductor suffered from cancer in the final phase.
For months his lawyers had fought for health reasons for the punishment. Mesina could not go anymore, no longer ate, did not speak and had trouble recognizing people. His lawyers said he wanted to be released at least a month ago. You would now organize his return to Sardinia.
Graziano Mesina was one of the most dangerous criminals in Italy. He was arrested at the age of 14 for illegal possession of weapons. His later raids were known internationally. He kidnapped industrialists and politicians, hid them in the steepest mountains of Sardinia and traded with drugs.
His successful escape attempts were also legendary: in 2004 he was graceed and released by the then Italian President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, but in 2013 he was again arrested for drug trafficking. He was eventually released again, but in 2021 there was a 30 -year prison sentence. The Supreme Court in Rome had rejected an objection.

Halfed when saving the child
Mesina managed to break out of trains, barracks and prisons with high security. In 1992 he was able to convey from a prison in the Kassam abduction case. The kidnappers of the seven -year -old Faruk Kassam had cut off part of the boy’s ear and sent them to the parents to force ransom. The son of a rich hotelier on the Costa Smeralada was finally released after seven months of imprisonment.
