A woman and a man had to be rescued from a lifting platform on Erzherzog-Johann-Platz in Vienna-Favoriten on Tuesday morning. They got into an awkward situation while decorating the Christmas tree…
The worker and her colleague were just about to decorate the Christmas tree in the square when the basket they were lifting them with suddenly tipped forward and could no longer be moved. The two had to remain in the dangerous position for over an hour before being rescued.
Hold at the last minute
The woman and the man were just able to hold on and alerted the rescuers. The fire brigade secured the work platform against falling over with a cable winch and round slings, because it was uncertain whether other parts of the hydraulic system – such as the vehicle support – were still functioning properly.
At the same time, the turntable ladder basket was placed next to the work basket, allowing the two people to transfer and then be taken to the ground. The employee and her colleague were unharmed in the incident and were visibly relieved to be on solid ground again.
