The fire brigades of Greifenburg, Hauzendorf, Bruggen and Dellach, as well as rescue and emergency doctors took action, but it was already too late.
Man hit by fallen tree
A 63-year-old pensioner from the Spittal an der Drau district was alone in the afternoon cutting wood in a forest in the municipality of Greifenburg. An accident probably occurred between 2:00 PM and 2:30 PM: the man must have been hit by a fallen tree.
Attempts at resuscitation failed
A resident (58) of the forest, who happened to look, found the 63-year-old motionless on the ground next to a fallen fir tree. He immediately set the rescue chain in motion. The resuscitation attempts of the paramedics who arrived from the Red Cross Greifenburg office and the emergency doctor from the rescue helicopter C7 were unfortunately unsuccessful.
The victim died at the scene of the accident from his injuries
The victim, who was wearing forestry equipment and a helmet, died of his injuries at the scene of the accident. The Oberes Drautal mountain rescue service and the PI Greifenburg patrol were also present.
