Devastating accident Wednesday morning in the Tyrolean Oberland: A 26-year-old Turk lost control of his car on the B180, Reschenstrasse, near Landeck and crashed with full force into a tunnel portal. The seriously injured driver was trapped in the wreckage and had to be freed by the fire brigade.
The fatal traffic accident took place around 6:30 am. The 26-year-old Turk was driving his car on the B180 from Landeck towards Ried in the Oberinntal when he suddenly lost control of the car.

“After the vehicle initially hit the guardrail, it collided with it without braking the tunnel portal of the Pontlatz tunnel,” says the police. The driver was seriously injured by the impact. He was trapped in the wreckage and had to be freed by the fire brigade.
45 firefighters on duty
After initial treatment on site, the 26-year-old was taken by ambulance to Zams Hospital. The accident temporarily caused heavy traffic jams in both directions. The Prutz and Fließ fire brigades were deployed with a total of six vehicles and 45 emergency services.
