The famous Munich restaurateur Michael Käfer can hardly save himself from bookings for his Oktoberfest tent. “It is really more than good, we have so many reservations. It’s a great run,” says the 64-year-old entrepreneur. He is firmly convinced that the spectacle will really take place this year. German Health Minister Karl Lauterbach was not very happy about this: he finds the Wiesn pledge problematic .
“Today you can never say it’s 100 percent (safe), but I’d say 99 percent,” Käfer said.

“Ozapft is” on September 17
The mayor of Munich Dieter Reiter (SPD) announced at the end of April that the Oktoberfest should take place again from September 17.
After two cancellations due to Corona, the city wants to host the largest folk festival in the world again until October 3 without Corona restrictions. Health Minister Karl Lauterbach is not happy about this. He expressed his concerns about a completely unprotected Wiesn (see video above).
Six million visitors
The spectacle attracted about six million visitors before the pandemic. It was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid-19. In its more than 200-year history, there were only longer breaks in times of war.
