It was shortly before the start of work. But a skier (21) from Poland wanted to make a few turns outside the secured piste at the Pitztal Glacier in Tyrol on Friday afternoon. The young man completely lost his orientation in the fog and increasing darkness.
Shortly before 4 p.m., the 21-year-old left the organized ski room at the middle station with his skis. However, by then the weather had already deteriorated significantly. The Pole increasingly found itself in steep and rocky terrain. After a short time he lost the overview and was unable to progress.
Lost man found after long search
The young man had no choice but to make an emergency call. In the meantime it had become dark over the Pitztal. The Innerpitztal mountain rescue team responded and started looking for the 21-year-old. The emergency services found him after a long search. Exhausted but unharmed, the skier was taken to the valley.
