Ukrainian parliament extends martial law and general mobilization until August

the Verkhovna Rada, the Ukrainian parliamenthas extended this Sunday for another 90 days, until next August 23, martial law and general mobilization in the country, the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelensky, signed the corresponding decrees a few days ago. This was announced on Telegram by the deputy of Golos (Voice), Yaroslav Zheleznyak, reports the Ukrinform bureau.

On the same February 24, the day of the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, martial law was imposed in the country until March 26, which was later extended twice for a further 30 days, first to April 25 and then to May 25. Also on February 24, Zelensky signed a decree introducing general mobilization in Ukraine.

Last Wednesday the president signed the decrees on the extension of the legal regime of martial law and the deadline for general mobilization, and expressed the hope that the Verkhovna Rada would support this decision “in the near future”.
