Was that a test of courage? On Saturday, a local man (31) jumped from a 20-meter-high ledge into the six-degree reservoir in the Tyrolean Vomperbach (Terfens/Vomp). He injured his chest, back and vertebrae and had to be taken to the clinic by emergency helicopter.
A 31-year-old resident planned to jump from a height of 20 meters from a ledge into the reservoir in Vomperloch (municipality of Terfens). Wearing a wetsuit and without a helmet, he carried out his plan on Saturday around 12.25 pm and jumped into the six-degree cold water.
With an emergency helicopter to the clinic
But unfortunately the jump did not go as planned: when diving into the water, the 31-year-old suffered injuries to his back, chest and vertebral area. He was able to save himself to the edge of the reservoir. After initial care from the Schwaz mountain rescue service, he was rescued by the emergency helicopter crew with a rope and flown to the clinic in Innsbruck.
