Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned his people on Sunday of more Russian air strikes in the coming winter. “Russia is preparing for winter,” Zelensky said in his evening speech on Telegram. Ukraine must therefore be prepared for Moscow to increase the number of drone and missile attacks on its infrastructure.
At the same time, Zelensky promised better protection against Russian attacks than last winter. According to him, Ukrainian air defense is stronger than a year ago. We also work with a number of Western countries to improve these on a daily basis. However, there is not yet complete protection of the entire territory.
Almost 21 months of war in Ukraine
Ukraine has been defending itself against a Russian war of aggression for almost 21 months. Kiev is highly dependent on support from the West. Last winter, the Russian military stepped up its attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure with drones, rockets and cruise missiles, further exacerbating the suffering of the civilian population. Since then, Ukrainian air defense has been significantly strengthened by Western weapon systems.
