On Monday morning, a young person (16) escaped from prison in Gerasdorf (Lower Austria). The search for the escaped man is currently in full swing. Police helicopters have also been deployed.
The prisoner, who is in custody for assault, was to be taken in the morning by bailiffs from the youth prison in Gerasdorf (Neunkirchen district) to Wiener Neustadt, where an interrogation would take place.
Escaped in handcuffs
The fugitive managed to escape from the hospital building around 11:30 am. It is said he was wearing handcuffs. Immediately after the escape, two bailiffs gave chase and alerted the police.
Resigned in January 2024
An alarm search that was immediately started has now been stopped, police spokesman Raimund Schwaigerlehner confirmed on request.
The search for the teenager continues. The youngster would actually have been released in January 2024.
