Animals best friends! In the US, a four-legged friend waited next to a corpse; in Japan the dog was now honored posthumously.
They are not only man’s best friends, but also the most loyal – this heartbreaking incident from the United States of America underlines that once again.
At the end of August, Rich Moore set out with his dog “Finney” for a day hike in the San Juan Mountains in the US state of Colorado. But the 71-year-old never returned home. According to his family, he planned to complete the three-mile hiking trail to the summit of Blackhead Peak.
When he did not return after 24 hours, his loved ones sounded the alarm and the Archuleta County Sheriff’s Office launched a massive search with the Mountain Rescue Team – to no avail. Moore and his dog “Finney” disappeared without a trace. Until a hunter spotted a dog in a dry riverbed on October 30 in the Lower Blanco Valley, four kilometers southeast of Blackhead Peak. And a rotting corpse next to it. The dog was the loyal and completely scared “Finney” and the dead man, Rich Moore.
A four-legged friend is now also being honored in Japan, even with its own statue. The dog “Hachiko” would have been 100 years old today. The four-legged friend of the Akita breed was still waiting for him years after the death of his master. This gave the dog the status of a cult figure in Japan – everyone knows “Hachiko”.
