After last Saturday’s blockade, an eyewitness claims to have seen, among other things, that an angry ‘traffic jam victim’ was handcuffed. There should now be a legal assessment of the damage.
Last weekend they struck again. We are talking about climate adhesives. The Brenner highway near the Matrei/Steinach exit was chosen as the blockade location. An eyewitness who was stuck in a traffic jam has now described details to the “Tiroler Krone” that were previously unknown and that have a certain explosiveness.
“Strategically well done”
According to the eyewitness (name known to the editors), the blockade started – again unannounced – at 10.10 am. “They did a good job strategically, because they got stuck about 300 meters after the sign ‘Exit Matrei/Steinbach’. “So there was no way to escape the traffic jam from the Schoenberg toll booth to the said exit,” he says. It is about ten kilometers of highway from Schönberg to the exit.
Activist collapsed and needed emergency medical attention
He and his family were in the car 500 meters away from the climate stickers. Then six police patrols arrived in succession. “As far as I noticed, a large part of those who were bonded were of German descent, at least in terms of language. One of these picking tourists even collapsed, possibly due to sheer stress. “So an emergency medical team had to come to help the lady onto the asphalt,” says the eyewitness.
It is unclear whether this was a follow-up reaction and whether it was the woman who – as reported – got glue in her eyes.
Handcuffs applied
But the witness allegedly saw something even more explosive. A man, believed to be a truck driver, who tried to drag one of the blockers off the road was handcuffed. He was then placed on the side of the road. “The police also turned away traffic victims who exercised their right to freedom of expression and wanted to say something to the blockers,” the eyewitness said.
The family was ‘locked up’ for an hour and a half
After about an hour and a half, the ghost was over and the family could continue the journey to Italy. The eyewitness, who is an entrepreneur, now wants to legally investigate whether there is a possibility of compensation.
