Great excitement on Wednesday evening in Kufstein in Tyrol: A heavily drunk local threatened several visitors with a steak knife at a Christmas market and then fled. The police were able to track down the suspect a short time later.
Someone must have looked too deep into the mulled wine cup: around 9 p.m., the 38-year-old Austrian suddenly snapped at the Christmas market – he pulled out a steak knife and threatened several people with it, the police reported.
Captured after a brief escape
When an alerted patrol arrived there, there was initially no trace of the suspect. In the meantime he had run away. However, officials were able to investigate and confront the 38-year-old during a search.
Provisional firearms ban announced
It is not known why the locals panicked so much. The steak knife was secured, luckily there were no injuries. The Austrian was given a provisional ban on weapons. He is reported to the public prosecutor’s office in Innsbruck on suspicion of dangerous threats.
