In Dresden, a 19-year-old allegedly tied up her boyfriend (25) and set his apartment on fire. The man was able to escape to the balcony together with the bed frame. He was brought down by the fire brigade and taken to hospital with serious injuries.
According to “Bild”, the 25-year-old was handcuffed to the bed and could not free himself from his predicament. Meanwhile, a fire raged in his apartment in Dresden. The alerted fire brigade arrived, freed the German from his handcuffs and rescued him from the flames with the help of a turntable ladder.
On the X platform (formerly Twitter), the Dresden fire brigade announced that they had rescued a total of two people using ladders. One of them received emergency medical care and was taken to a hospital. “The apartment was completely on fire (…) Due to the enormous smoke, extensive ventilation measures had to be taken,” it continues.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire after about four hours “with several teams using breathing apparatus and two steel pipes.” The affected floor was severely damaged and was temporarily closed.
19 year old arrested
According to the report, the fire was likely started with an accelerant. The suspect is a 19-year-old acquaintance of the man who was in his apartment on Thursday. The young German was arrested that afternoon while fleeing from the police. The police have already questioned her and she will be brought before the judge on Friday. She now has to answer for attempted murder.
The exact course of the crime or the motive are not yet publicly known. The police argued against the newspaper ‘Bild’ with ‘tactical investigative reasons’.
