Spectacular accident early in the morning in Radenthein, Carinthia: a driver lost control, crashed into a tree and landed his car in Riegersbach. The 27-year-old managed to save himself on the coast. A drunk driver (18) had an accident in Köttmannsdorf.
It is still unclear why the 27-year-old driver drove off the right side of the road around 5:20 am on Saturday morning. One thing is certain: the car raced about 80 meters down the dike, crashed with full force into a tree and was catapulted into the Riegersbach. Where the vehicle fortunately landed on its wheels. The 27-year-old managed to free himself from the wreckage and reach shore.
From where the victim eventually initiated the rescue chain by telephone. He was transported to the Spittal an der Drau hospital by the emergency services, who arrived a short time later, with injuries of an unknown nature. While the fire brigades of Radenthein, Untertweng and Bad Kleinkirchheim took care of the recovery of the “sunken” car.
The alcohol test carried out on the spot on the accident victim was negative and according to official information the road was not slippery or wet. Whether the driver may have avoided another vehicle or animal has yet to be determined, police said.
Girlfriend found accident car
However, the cause of another accident early Saturday morning in Köttmannsdorf seems relatively clear: An 18-year-old driver drove drunk off the main road – the car drove 100 meters through a sloping forest area and eventually came to rest on the roof. Despite serious injuries, the accident victim managed to alert a friend via her mobile phone.
However, the 18-year-old could not say where exactly her car ended up. Her acquaintance had the presence of mind to locate her friend’s cell phone, immediately went to the scene of the local accident and alerted the emergency services. After medical first aid, the rescue party transported the 18-year-old to the Klagenfurt clinic.
The fire brigade freed the victims from the wreckage
The Köttmannsdorf, Maria Rain, Ferlach and Kirschentheuer fire brigades with a total of 64 men were deployed to free and rescue the victim from the wreckage. The Loiblpass road was closed for about two hours in the direction of Ferlach.
