Police from Eastern Styria have now arrested a 43-year-old who is suspected of committing commercial thefts in several states together with an accomplice. The perpetrators were mainly after tools.
Police have arrested a 43-year-old from Poland as a serial tool thief in a tool shop in the Styrian district of Hartberg-Fürstenfeld. When questioned, the man initially appeared uncooperative and denied all allegations of crime. Only after he became increasingly embroiled in contradictions did the man confess.
Active in three states
He eventually admitted that he and an accomplice had attacked at least 10 specialty stores in Styria, Upper Austria and Tyrol, police said on Saturday. The duo smuggled tools worth 18,000 euros from the shops, hidden under their clothes. An accomplice is still being sought.
